“You know, if I had a President, he would look like….”

The Martin-Zimmerman case has been racially charged.  The media did it’s best to charge it further (why not, race riots would be the biggest news event since 9-11 and Katrina, lots of $$$ to be had). President Obama even made a comment “You know, if I had a son, he would look like Trayvon.”

When the media began the reports, it was a white adult shoots young black kid (pictured at age 12). Then it was revealed Zimmerman was hispanic, and Martin not so innocent looking. Then we began to get a different picture of our so-called racist. He mentored a couple of young black youths, even after the grant funding ran out.  Grew up in a racially diverse family structure.  Now we learn that Zimmerman is about an 1/8th black himself.

To be honest, the case has mostly been beaten to death (ground horse meat anyone)?  But then I saw this new photo of Zimmerman (right) and thought “Wow…he kind of looks like Obama.”  Then I thought about the President’s statement on this case – and well…

Primary Talk: Who is and isn’t electable?

First off, from now on I will try to label all primary (non-gun) posts with the Primary Talk prefix (and later Election Talk:) just for those who want to at an eyeball’s glance ignore them. If I fail to do so, please not in the comments so I can fix. ;-)

Recent poll reveals that Mitt Romney is polling at a 48% vs 47% for Obama for the win.  Sounds substantial.  But the same poll gave President Obama only a 48% victory versus 46% for Ron Paul.  The error of margin essentially making it a three way tie.

Now one can take this information many ways.  One could tout a potential victory for Romney, or one might tout the validity of Ron Paul who has often been dismissed as both unelectable and unable to win against President Obama.  If such is true, a mere 3% spread is not much difference between a supposed best shot candidate (Romney) and supposed unelectable (Paul).

Each candidate has their so called skeletons in the closet or more so the bag of bones.

  • President Obama – It’s the economy stupid. Jobs, jobs, jobs. Unless he gets that unemployment rate down to 5%-6% he’s got a tough game ahead of him.

  • Mitt Romney - Liberals don’t like him. Conservatives don’t like him. Has big bad business moniker. But mostly, a large expectation of simply being more of the same. Clinton Bush term #7.

  • Ron Paul – Seemingly radical views, at least for this century.  A perceived isolationism, (which I personally feel is a mistaken perception). Opposes much of the infrastructure of government that has been set up over the last 60 years. As such, is expected to cause much disruption in the status quo.

The real question is, are enough people sick and tired of President Obama’s policies to vote him out and put in his stead a candidate who is likely to do little different than his previous contempories.  Are enough Americans sick of the guy in the office to vote for an individual who garners no good will from them?  I am of the opinion they are not, and expect to see another 4 years of President Obama in office.

I could be wrong.  But to be frank - if I am wrong, and Romney wins, I doubt we’ll notice much difference other than perhaps if we’re very very lucky we’ll ensure a moderate-to-conservative judge is appointed on the Supreme Court vs another extreme liberal. And if by some amazing miracle of chance Ron Paul were to win the Presidency, well I guess we could count ourselves in Chinese proverbial fashion to “be blessed to live in interesting times”.

UPDATE: Let me just further add, when a fair amount of the American populace is supporting a candidate. And major media, such as CNN.com is so glaringly ignoring that candidate. Even when the viability is being shown to be higher than any of the other candidates, excepting the leader, one must question the motives and the integrity of that media.

I literally asked myself, was Ron Paul in this last debate or did they exclude him like they did in 2008. Apparently he was, but not a single thing in CNN’s coverage would make you aware of that fact.

Seriously, I think I will vote for Ron Paul just because of CNN.com

The President Has NO BALLS!!! (clothes)

Excuse me….Mr. President, when you are afraid of the creme of the crop. The best our nation has to offer in our young men and women.  Enough to break time honored traditions and disrespect both those traditions AND those young men and women.

After reading this, I must only conclude that you have no balls.

The graduating class of the United States of America’s Naval Academy will not be allowed to graduate with their swords.  Having attended a U.S. military academy. I can tell you that the sword is a significant mantra within the realm of the cadet. The sword has been the symbol of the officer for centuries. Receiving one’s sword and commission is the payoff for all the hard work. For four years that includes working on a college degree while you attend to all the military procedures. Spend much of your first year not even being allowed to look at your food as your eat.

The men and women who graduate swear to protect this nation, it’s Constitution.  If we are so fearful of our President being in the presence of those the very same young men and women.

If I were president, I could think of few places safer than being surrounded by U.S. military cadets.

***

Mr. President, I am fast losing respect for you and your pre-eminence.

UPDATE:  A guy claims here that they implemented a no-weapons policy after 9-11.  But I wonder if that included the ceremonial swords prior to this year’s graduation?

Whitehouse removes and/or hides gun policy plans…

Whitehouse.gov has (re)moved the several statements they had on the Urban Policy Agenda page regarding guns and gun control.  Now I wouldn’t go rejoicing too soon.  I doubt that the intentions of this administration have changed.  More than likely they’re just taking a more clandestine approach.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/issues/urban_policy/

Here are just a few quotes that used to be on the Urban Policy page:

“Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal
arms trade.”

“Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals.”

“They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof.”

“They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.”

H/T to Days of our Trailers, also be sure to watch this great cartoon he posted on Freedom. (Even if it’s 50 yrs old, it seems quite relevant to today.)

Obama (re)disarming airline pilots…

President Obama is quietly ending the federal firearms program, risking public safety on airlines in the name of an anti-gun ideology.

America joins English Socialism (INGSOC)

All over the blogosphere is the comparison of George Orwell’s INGSOC logo with that of the recent Newsweek cover…

George Orwell’s INGSOC

Newsweek Cover

That said, I nearly laughed when I read the sub-headlines. Someone in the design department obviously missed the statement that the combination of headlines make.  (This is a testament to how biased the media is, they can’t even see what they write because it all goes thru rose colored Obama glasses.)

THE BLACKBERRY PRESIDENT
QUITTING THE THUG LIFE

Humorous… I guess one can consider Obama to have left the Chicago thug political machine for the higher Washington D.C. culture. *cough* *cough*

Ask Obama (new site allows you to post/rate questions)

Folks, we have an opportunity to effect policy here. The change.gov website has put up a feature where you can post questions and rate the questions of others.

http://change.gov/page/content/openforquestions

I am of the opinion that if every shooter and 2nd Amendment activist who blogs or podcasts, along with their readers and listeners were to post questions and did so in a polite, respectful and constructive manner.  And rated those questions…

We send President to be Obama, a message loudly and clearly!

Obama shows his true colors… (Stalinist Red)

Obama is showing his true colors. Fitting of a Stalinist, not only is he against the 2nd Amendment, but it appears he is against the 1st Amendment as well.

- No Guns
- No Free Speech

You may not be aware of the controversy that has been ensuing around a number of political advertisements the NRA has been running.  A few entities like FactCheck.org and Washington Post have claim the ads are false. However, if you dig a little deeper and don’t accept FactCheck.org at face value you discover that the NRA ads have a lot of merit.  (In most cases you simply have to review his record as a State Rep before he became a U.S. Senator. But everyone one of the NRA claims does have merit even if they are phrased to be a bit hyped-up.)

Well, apparently Obama is sending cease and desist legal threat letters to broadcasters over the ads. And hiring lawyers and putting together a “Truth Task Force”.
http://www.politico.com/static/PPM111_080925_obama_smith.html

Ironically, Obama has no issue with having the AHSA (which is a gun-control group with a pro-gun sounding name) air an extremely mis-leading and deceitful advertisement.

But this type of legal tactic is nothing new for Obama. A man who got elected to the state legislature by eliminating his opponents from the ballot on minute technicalities with highly questionable tactics. (Like eliminating someone for not signing with cursive script. Which btw, would eliminate a large number of the signatures on the Declaration of Independence . But Obama doesn’t seem to have much issue with eliminating aspects of our founding documents. The first two articles of the bill of rights for example.

Obama campaign exposed for the liars they are…

Fox reporter totally rips an Obama spokesperson who tries to peddle the same old lies on Obama’s gun rights record.  Except this time the reporter has the supporting document to back herself up. Then when the reporter dismisses said document as merely being filled out by Obama’s staff and they he never saw it. She pulls out document “B” which has Obama’s own hand written annotations on one of the survey forms.

Obama campaign declares new permanent so-called “assault weapons” ban on the horizon…

Per the Barack Obama site:

Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn’t have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

http://origin.barackobama.com/issues/urbanpolicy/#crime-and-law-enforcement (thanks to the “Armed Canadian”)

For those who are unclear of what the “gun show loophole” is. The so-called loophole is the provision that allows an individual to sell a long rifle to another individual as a private sale. (ie: Your friend Joe sells your friend Bob his old hunting rifle after he buys a new one.)  Whereas handgun sales require a transfer be conducted thru a licensed firearms dealer.  (One problem with these transfers is that they’re often over-charged for.  Each licensed dealer wants a cut, and what is normally a $5 background check fee becomes $20, $40 or in the case of the Washington D.C. area a rip off $125 service charge.

Regarding the second item, the AWB, for those wonder what distinguishes an assault weapon from a regular rifle.  In reality, very little beyond “it looks scary”.  “Assault Weapon” is a made up term by gun control advocates to instill fear.  An “assault rifle” is a specialized weapon that is capable of automatic fire and usually has a selection mode to choose semi-automatic (one fire per trigger pull), burst (3-5 rounds), or full auto.  These weapons are highly regulated, and tend to be accessible only to military, police, licensed manufacturers, and criminals. What the media and gun control advocates term “Assault Weapon” are really nothing more than semi-automatic rifles that usually have been fitted with modernized grips and stocks (ie: molded plastic, folding stocks, etc).

This blog post shows a great comparison. If you look at the guns, one looks acceptable and the others frightful.  But the truth is, they’re the same guns.

http://stuckinmassachusetts.blogspot.com/2008/09/shorter-awb-opposition-post.html

What’s the difference? Well, modern materials and construction allows for the so-called assault weapons to be a bit lighter. And they don’t have wood grain.  What does this equate to?  Think of your auto, unless you have a Mercedes, most cars these days have done away with solid wood trim. Even leather is a premium.  The interiors of the average car are plastic, metal and cloth.  Why would we think that similar changes to rifles would be evil. Or maybe it’s just the color black…

Perhaps we could paint them in this fashion!
